Exhibition Against Loneliness 👥

*EVERY WEDNESDAY DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER*

The Lonely Phone – An Unexpected Conversation

What would you do if a lonely phone started ringing in the middle of a square?

The Lonely Phone is an interactive art installation created to raise awareness about loneliness and the importance of human connection. Visitors are invited to pick up an old rotary phone and take part in a surprising conversation that encourages reflection on belonging, being seen, and the small gestures that can make a difference in someone's day.

After the call, participants can share a thought, memory, or message by writing it on a card and placing it in a large red mailbox. Through these simple interactions, the project creates meaningful conversations and brings people together.

Created by Social Work students from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with the Embassy of Loneliness, The Lonely Phone turns a public space into a place for connection, reflection, and community.
